A work from the „Dream“ series, which consists of isolated objects and figures presented with rigorous consistency against a black background. „Zebra Man“ is based on a photograph of a pedestrian crossing—a zebra crossing—which, having endured many summers and heatwaves, has warped into the distorted shape depicted here. It can still be found today near an extremely busy intersection, remaining utterly unperturbed as, throughout the day, hundreds of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and buses drive over it—often seamlessly and without taking the slightest notice of its presence. Meanwhile, it gives the impression of surrendering itself completely to this indifferent scene—with arms clasped behind its neck and its spine arched in sheer, languid pleasure.
